Marie believes in education. She has been a volunteer tutor for over 20 years, beginning in the Bellevue Schools and currently in the low-income housing projects in Seattle. She provides homework help for kids ranging from second grade to high school.
A believer in preserving the natural environment, Marie also supports and serves on the board of the Raptor Education Foundation. REF is a group of dedicated volunteers who use 30 live eagles, hawks, falcons, and owls to provide wildlife education to schools, scouts, seniors, and the general public.
